I was born in Desdunes, Haiti and raised in Catholic Church. At age fifteen, I accepted Jesus-Christ as my personal Savior. After my conversion, I felt that the Lord had called me. My desire has been to have an intimate relationship with God and know his words since 1959.

I went to Evangelical School of the Bible in Bolosse, Port-au-Prince. I obtained a diploma in Theology in 1963. At that time I met my wife. We got married. God has blessed us with four children and nine grand-children. After my graduation, I returned to my home church where I was first learned about God. My family and I spent five years there teaching Sunday school as Superintendent. My wife was an elementary school teacher.

In 1969, we were called to start a church in Arcahaie, Haiti. I was ordained Pastor that same year. In 1971, I came to the United States of America with the same desire to continue helping and serving people as I have been serving my God. I went to United Christian Church where I served as Superintendent Sunday school. My family and I started a home prayer service. After few months, three families came together to start New Jerusalem Baptist Church in 1979.

In 1995 I obtained a Bachelor degree of theology from the Lighthouse Christian College in Arkansas. Two years later, I obtained a Master degree of Theology. In 1998, I obtained a Ph. D in religious education at the same college.

I will continue to be a servant of my Lord Jesus-Christ until I die.

Reverend Kenslio Ojentis was born in Gonaives, Haiti and came to the United States at the age of 10. He graduated from Montclair State University with a B.S. in Biology in 1996. In 1999, He and his wife Marielle accepted God’s call to attend Dallas Theological Seminary. While in Dallas, the Lord blessed them with a beautiful daughter, Kenyelle Camilla. He received a Master of Theology degree in New Testament and Pastoral Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2003.

Upon graduating from seminary, he was welcomed back to his home church where he first learned how to serve God and his people. And in December of 2003, he was ordained as Youth and Young Adults Pastor at Eglise Baptiste de la Nouvelle Jerusalem in Irvington, New Jersey.

When asked about his conversion at an early age, Reverend Ojentis said, “Though I was born and raised in a Christian home, as a child I did not understand all the details concerning the Bible, but the one thing in particular I did understand was my need for the Lord Jesus. I knew that the Bible was correct in calling me a sinner, and that Christ died in my place, and I was being offered eternal life by placing my trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work alone. If I were asked of the exact time and place that I believed in Jesus Christ I would not be able to answer correctly. It was a process that began very early in my childhood. The Lord saved me from my sins as a child. Before I knew all the details of theology, God saved me. Before I understood all of the intricacies of morality, God rescued me. Before I understood the requirements of spiritual life, Christ died for me. Therefore, I am convinced that salvation is a free gift. God did for me what I could not possibly do for myself: He saved me! Consequently, I concur with the Bible: “For by grace I have been saved through faith; and that not of myself, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that I should not boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9; my emphasis on the first person singular).”

Reverend Ojentis believes that his parents and grandparents played an extensive role in his spiritual development. He once said, “My earliest spiritual memories are of my mother teaching me Bible verses, and songs at the age of two. She progressively introduced me to Christ in ways that I could understand even at an early age. More than anything, my conversion was a gradual experience that began early in my childhood and was confirmed throughout my adolescence. Even as a young adolescent, it was always my ambition to attempt great things for the Lord because of His love for me. But gradually the Lord has made me realized that it is He who is forever seeking to accomplish greater things for me and through me. Thus, it is my daily prayer that I would allow myself to be used of Him.”

Regarding his personal philosophy of ministry, Reverend Ojentis declared, “As is true for every Christian, I believe that God has called me to Himself, to know Him and to serve Him faithfully. He has uniquely gifted me in order to be used by Him to lead the people of my immediate community and afar to know Christ and to follow Him faithfully.”

Reverend Ojentis has realized that the ultimate goal of life is not to know the Bible, but to know the God of the Bible through the Person of His Son Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Bible. It is his prayer that he would continue to exhibit utmost passion for the God of his salvation and His chosen people.
